Barça approve €7m board guarantee in bid to register Rashford and Joan Garcia

Barcelona has taken further steps to ensure that new signing sessions Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia are ready to go on Saturday evening for their La Liga debut against RCD Mallorca. The Blaugrana still has to register one of their new additions if things stand out.

Last Friday, the Catalan giants submitted an injury report for Marc-Andre ter Stegen at La Liga in an attempt to activate the notorious injury rule, say Ser Catalunya. After five days, however, they have to receive a response, something that eyebrows has lifted in Barcelona, with the most decisions that come after about 24 hours. In an attempt to prevent this from being a problem, Barcelona, however, they have made alternative regulations.

The Catalan radio station further confirms that after a meeting of the emergency council on Wednesday, the Barcelona board approved a bank guarantee to allow them to add € 7 million to their budget. They say that as soon as their VIP rental agreement is validated of € 100 million, the warranty in combination with their new sponsorship agreement with Dr. Congo, Barcelona will be back within their salary limit and can register both Garcia and Rashford.

They say that the shortage comes from other sports departments within the club, and that is the reason that the warranty has been carried out. It allows Barcelona to issue € 7 million that are not in the budget, and if the money is not returned before the end of their mandate, the board members themselves are personally liable for that amount.

Despite earlier reports stating that Barcelona cooperates with La Liga to validate their VIP rental agreement of € 100 million, Ser Catalunya explains that they are still waiting for the green light from Auditors Crowe to include the deal in their accounts. Without that, Barcelona remains above their salary limit and subject to expenditure restrictions, more precisely they can only spend 60% of what they save or earn from transfers in salaries.
