Mike Tyson’s son provides retirement update after boxing legend’s controversial comeback fight against Jake Paul

Mike Tyson's son has provided an update on the boxing legend's fighting future.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion returned from nearly two decades of retirement to face Jake Paul, who is 31 years his junior, on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Texas.

'Iron Mike' looked like a shell of his former self as he suffered a lopsided points defeat in his first fight since being stopped by Kevin McBride in 2005.

The 58-year-old grandfather now seems to be done with boxing for good.

Will Mike Tyson Fight Again?

In the immediate aftermath of his comeback loss, Mike Tyson suggested he would fight on by calling up Logan Paul as he celebrated his brother's big win.

Tyson's feelings seemed to change after he took some time to relax. The ring icon released a statement on social media addressing the medical issues he faced earlier this year. It contained a strong indication that he was done fighting.

Now his son, Amir Tyson, has seemingly confirmed that his famous father is strongly leaning towards retiring for good after drawing 60 million fans to Netflix for his return.

“I think he's done,” Amir told Seconds Out.

“My stepmom, she says he's done and they're a team. That's husband-and-wife stuff.”

The 27-year-old went on to address claims that Paul vs. Tyson was 'fixed'.

Amir added: “Some people are into that fake 'Oh, it's rigged'

'We know it has not been tampered with. He just got tired. Jake would hit the road. It looked like he was pulling back on his punches, but Jake moves. It's not like the pads, it moves.

“If someone doesn't want to accept that someone has lost, if things don't go that way, of course they will withdraw it. And that's what they put on the internet.

“His gas tank was just shot after the third round. That's all it was. He just sat there the whole time. He did his best. He didn't hold back, he did what he could at his age.”

Jake Paul's team speech falsified fight rumors

Unsubstantiated claims that Paul vs. Tyson's alleged “tampering” was so widespread that the YouTuber-turned-boxer's company issued a statement addressing the rumors.

It said: “Following the widespread dissemination of false and unfounded claims that undermine the integrity of the Paul vs. Undermining Tyson Event, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) wants to set the record straight regarding the contractual agreements and the nature of the fight.

“Fixing a professional boxing match is a federal crime in the United States of America. Paul vs. Tyson was a professional match sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR). Both fighters performed in good faith to the best of their ability with the goal of winning the fight. There were absolutely no restrictions – contractual or otherwise – surrounding either fighter. Each boxer could use his full arsenal to win the fight. Any agreement to the contrary would be in violation of the TDLR boxing rules.

“Trash talk and speculation are common in sports, and athletes and promoters must tolerate nonsensical comments, jokes and opinions. But to suggest anything other than full effort from these fighters is not only naive, but an insult to the work they put into their craft and to the sport itself.

“It is further illogical and senseless that MVP, in the debut of a hopeful long-term partnership with the world's largest streamer – an organization that made its first-ever foray into live professional sports with Paul vs. Tyson – even consider such a perverse violation of competition rules.”
