Thierry Henry gives his honest verdict on Viktor Gyokeres after his £64m move to Arsenal after a mixed pre-season

Thierry Henry gave his honest opinion about Viktor Gyokeres after Arsenal has spent £ 64 million to make him their leading striker.

Gyokeres arrives with a sizzling reputation after scoring 97 goals and providing 28 assists in two seasons with Sporting Lisbon – but the Premier League is another beast.

The Swedish sniper made a weak impression when he was in Brighton – only earned eight trips in four seasons and is constantly being grown on loan – but is reminded by Coventry City fans for his productive net busting in the championship.

Now he is back on the English peat, and as is tailor -made for everyone who signs for one of his Alma Mater, Henry is asked to weigh. It also sends a strong message that Gyokees has taken over Henry's old number: 14.

The Frenchman is perhaps the most legendary striker in the history of Arsenal and his words have the power to influence the fan sentiment.

He said: “He was already in England, let's not forget that. He was in Coventry, he couldn't do it in Brighton.

'So you can see a man who already knows what struggling is and comes back from it.

'He is more confident and you can see from his body as he has taken care of himself, the way he has changed.

'You have a man who is a murderer in the box – not lying numbers – and you have a team that creates many opportunities, so it should be the perfect match.

'It is always unfair when I talk about a striker, it brings unnecessary pressure because it goes up and out.

'What you want is that people are patient with him, and what is annoying is that people are no longer that patient.

'They want the man to perform immediately, score goals immediately and let us win immediately, which does not happen often. Sometimes it doesn't click immediately.

'I love it when people show me what they can do, and then I can talk. At the moment people like to talk for the implementation.

'I am a fan of Arsenal, I very much hope he will do well, do goals for us and guide us to a title, but he will not do that alone.

'We have seen that goals do not always insure you a title. We have seen boys with crazy songs, but they have won nothing. The team around them must be good.

'From what I have seen of him and how he is ready, hopefully it will be a great match and we can finally go back to lift that trophy. But many teams want to lift that. '

Gyokeres hit the ground with the Gunners and scored a 3-0 win over his second friendly outing over Athletic Bilbao in the Emirates Cup final.

He is the first top-and-out striker they have had since the 2021-22 season, when they were pre-maintained by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsenal reporter from Mail Sport, Isaan Khan, looked back all the goals of Gyokeres from last season and you can see his view of whether he will be the right fit here.
