Arne Slot drops biggest hint yet on Liverpool’s Alexander Isak transfer chase

Arne Slot has made it clear that he wants Liverpool to secure another attack, because they are determined to add Alexander Isak, which insists on an output in Newcastle

Liverpool -Baas Arne Slot admits that they “need another attacker”, while the club is going after Alexander Isak with their pursuit that does not show a sign of cooling.

The Reds have seen an offer of £ 110 million for the frontman of Newcastle and still have to return with an improved offer. Isak has made it clear that he wants to leave St James' Park and does everything to go to the starting door in the northeast after three years.

Newcastle would demand a British record costs, but had claimed that Isak would not be sold under any circumstances this summer, even if they got a new striker herself. The situation still has weeks to play and Slot has made it clear that he wants more firepower at Anfield after he has seen Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez leave.

Liverpool spent £ 79 million on Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt, the Frenchman scored on his debut, but Slot wants more and has opened the door to his new signing that pushed out wide to house a new arrival.

He said Sky Sports: “I see Hugo especially as a no. 9 who could also play from the left or together with another No. 9. At least we still have to have an attacker.”

Newcastle still has to include Isak in one of their preseason plans and Eddie Howe admits that he cannot in any way take up the Swede for their Premier League opener against Aston Villa, given the situation. The situation is complicated by the failure of the club to land one of their striker goals.

It lets them lightly tipped with Anthony Gordon in the last third part to lead the line when he is fit. And, prior to a return to the Champions League, Howe has known that Newcastle must accept that they have to work with the team with which they have been left behind.

“I don't think it's healthy for us,” he said. “I don't deny that that has been a big challenge. Alex is one of the best strikers in the world for me – if not the best. Missing him of your team leaves a huge gap.”

He added: “I think it would certainly be morally early during the pre -season. There was nothing that I could do to influence that – it would always be there.

“If you have a player who is so good who is not part of your group, it is difficult for the players to fully understand and know what is going on and how to respond. But the time time has gone, there has been an acceptance that this is the team and we have to make the best out of the situation.”
