Championship club confirm Brandon Williams signing – as former Manchester United star bids to rebuild his career

Hull City has confirmed the signing of former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams, who joined the championship with a one-year deal.

Earlier this month, Daily Mail Sport revealed that the former Red Devils star was chased by clubs in the championship and abroad. The interest was aroused by the shape and attitude of Williams during a trial period at Hull during the summer.

Daily Mail Sport then exclusively revealed that the Tigers seem to have won the race for the talented left side, with a medical in East Yorkshire this week. A deal, with an option to extend his contract by one year, has now been confirmed.

Williams said about the move: 'It feels good to be back in the team environment and to be back on the field. Everyone has been very hospitable. It's a good weeks ago, but I'm just happy that I am here now and can concentrate on football.

“I had some very honest encounters with the manager. We know that it will be a process to get back at speed again, with that time out. It was 20 months since I played or was involved with a team.

'I appreciated the manager's honesty. Now it's up to me to work hard and get as many games as I can.

'It was very difficult (taking a break from football) – mentally and physically. It was a long way back, but probably something I needed. Now I am a different person here.

'I grew up a lot and I am ready to just concentrate on football. I missed it. I'm hungry, I'm fiery. I know what quality I can bring to the team. As soon as I get back there, I am sure I will be an asset to the team.

'I put the work and the confidence of the manager, the people above him and the coaching staff.

“Now I have to show it to the fans and my teammates to prove that I am here to work hard and to help the team get results.”

Williams burst on stage in Old Trafford, made his debut just 19 and won praising reviews for his tenacity.

He has been without a club for a year since the end of his contract with Old Trafford.

Williams made 21 Premier League performances for United and had Leen Proverbs in Ipswich Town and Norwich City.

Earlier this year he expressed his wish to restart his career after he had been pronounced a suspended prison sentence for a car accident of 99 MPH.

Williams has admitted accusations of dangerous driving and driving without insurance.
