Earlier this week, Franco Mastantuono was finally unveiled as a Real Madrid player, after official confirmation of his arrival by River Plate. The Argentina -International could only participate in he for 18 years, which happened on Thursday.
It was on his 18th birthday that Mastantuono was presented to the media as a Real Madrid player. A deal worth € 45 million had agreed more than two months ago, but according to the FIFA rules he could not participate so far – although it was worth waiting.
Speaking with Real Madrid TV (via MD), Mastantuono thought about his presentation, which was a dream that came out for him.
“It was a very special day for me. I was looking forward to this day and I enjoyed it a lot. I had a very nice reception in the club and I am very happy. It was a dream birthday and I think it will be the happiest of my life.”
Mastantuono has also made it clear that he joins what he thinks is the largest club in world football, something he has dreamed of for a long time.
“This is a dream I had since I was a child. I did not hesitate for a second when Real Madrid appeared, and it was the best choice I have ever made.
“I don't have to say it. We all know that Real Madrid is the largest team in the world. To come here and put on this shirt is an incredible dream that I want to enjoy and benefit from. This trophy room shows what the club is, the winning team that is. It is the biggest club in the world and to be a very important award.”
When entering Real Madrid, Mastantuono was drawn in the footsteps of a number of Argentines – but no more prominent than club legend Alfredo di Stefano. He spoke about the iconic figure during the interview with RMTV.
“Alfredo was an idol for the club and for football. I didn't have the chance to see him play, but of everything that was told me, it says a lot about his size. It is very nice to be Argentinian and come and play for Real Madrid as he did.”
