Wolves pay heartfelt tribute Jota with special tifo before the game with City

Wolves brought an emotional tribute to the former player Diogo Jota prior to their collision with Manchester City.

Jota and his brother Andre Silva died on July 3 in a car accident in Spain.

Wolves returned to Molineux for their first Premier League match since the tragedy, observing a minute of silence and brought Jota on the front of the competition program.

Flowers Wreaths were also laid on the field and fans stopped a striking Tifo from Jota in the stands.

A banner under the Tifo was: 'We will remember if you walk in Fields of Gold', in reference to Jota's favorite song, Fields of Gold by Sting.

Jota's widow woman, Rute Cardoso, his parents and former Wolves and Portugal teammate Ruben Neves watched from the stands, visibly emotional.

Goalkeeper also Jose Sa seemed to fight tears back, because both sets of players were applause on the middle circle for a minute.

In the 18th minute applaud fans in Molineux as a tribute to the shirt number he wore during his time at the club.

Jota came to Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid in 2017 and helped them to win the title of the championship before they spent two full seasons permanently with them.

All in all, he scored 44 goals for Wolves in 131 when they were promoted, then ended twice and reached the quarterfinals of the Europa League in 2019-20 -20.

He became a modern hero for the Midlands side and broke countless records for his £ 41 million move to Liverpool in 2020, where he was going to win the Premier League.

Jota scored back-to-back hat tricks against Besiktas and Espanyol in Molineux in the Europa League and became the first player of the club to do that.

That three-doels salvo against Besiktas came in 11 minutes, the fastest European hat trick ever from the club ever.

It was proof of his determination to play in England that Jota Champions League football was exchanging with Atletico for the championship.

The Portuguese scored 18 goals in his first season with the club, were called their top scorer and settled as a beloved star.

Jota was included in the Hall of Fame of Wolves, with some of the flower tribute to him who are shown in a permanent tribute in the Wolves Museum.
