Leicester City wing player Jeremy Monga wrote history by becoming the youngest goal scorer ever to become the championship after finding the net against Preston.
The teenager is already considered one of the most appreciated young talents in English football, where clubs, including Manchester City and Barcelona, keep an eye on his progress.
In April, Monga first went into the record books when he became the second youngest player to appear in the Premier League, and this did just 15 years and 271 days old.
Earlier this week he continued his rapid turnout by becoming Leicester's youngest starter ever, on the field 16 years and 34 days old.
Monga added another milestone to his fast-growing career on Saturday, scored the record in the 2-1 defeat of Leicester in Preston and set the record as the youngest score of the championship in 16 years and 37 days old.
The previous record was held by Jude Bellingham, who scored for Birmingham City in 2019 in 16 years and 63 days old.
Despite the defeat in Deepdale, Foxes boss Marti Cifuentes made the 'talented' winger.
“He deserves the honor, he is a talented boy and we try to take care of him because he is very modest and that is very important to me because the way he works on the field is excellent,” Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester.
'He wants to learn, he wants to improve and he has a lot of talent, so I am happy that he has scored his first goal and I am sure that he will also remain modest and I am not only happy with the goal, but the entire performance.
“He shows character and personality and we are going to try to help him be the player we think he can be.”
Players cannot sign a professional contract before they turn 17, and Monga will not reach that age until July 2026.
However, offers can be made for some time. If a player under the age of 16 wants to go somewhere else, he has to inform his club and the competition no later than the first Saturday in June.
