Liverpool received their new Premier League campaign on Friday until the perfect start and with a week now until their next game, the focus can shift to transfers again
Liverpool has finally reached the end of what a hectic week has been. The Reds opened their 2025/26 season in style on Friday evening with a dramatic 4-2 victory against Bournemouth.
New signing Hugo Ekitike opened the score, where Cody Gakpo doubled the management. Antoine Semenyo, however, attracted Bournemouth level with two second half strikes.
But goals from Federico Chiesa – who is linked to an Anfield -Xit – and Mohamed Salah brought Liverpool to the perfect start. And with a week to go until their next competition, attention can now return to transfers.
The last summer addition of the Reds became Giovanni Leoni, who completed a £ 26 million switch from Parma. And Liverpool may not be done there, where Alexander Isak is still connected to a switch with a big money to Anfield.
With all that said, take a look at all the transfer news and rumors to get out of Anfield for the past 24 hours.
Eddie Howe has revealed that he did not fully give up hope for convincing Alexander Isak to stay in Newcastle. Speaking for the Premier League opener on Saturday vs Aston Villa, he said: “Yes, I believe there is [a way back for Isak].
“But of course there should be discussions and conversations to make that happen. But again, that's for another day.
“Today is Aston Villa and ensuring that we perform as well as possible. I understand why your questions are full of that subject, but it is not really helping us right now.”

Real Madrid has joined the race to sign Alexander Isak, according to Richard Keys. Speaking at Bein Sport, the broadcaster claimed that Liverpool had made a new offer, but was now confronted with competition.
“I heard today that Liverpool made a bid of £ 110 million. A second range of £ 80 million now and 60 million next season. Take your choice,” Keys claimed before he was added: “But I also heard that Real Madrid might be in the frame.”
Alexander Isak was not contrary to Newcastle when they took Aston Villa on Saturday.
Arne Slot has hinted that Federico Chiesa could still stay at Liverpool after his match-winning contribution against Bournemouth. After the game, Slot said: “As long as he is here, it is certainly in Liverpool and I have no reason to believe it will change.
“He had a hard time preparing his fitness last season and unfortunately he missed the Asian tour and Joe Gomez for him the same. We finally lost Conor Bradley, so all my replacements were related to players who couldn't go for 90 minutes.
“On 2-2 you need a number nine. I brought it in and he delivered it and that is always positive for your future at the club. The fans sang so often for him last season and it's very nice for him to give them something back.”
