Rico Lewis has thrown every decision about his future to the Court of Manchester City by insisting that playing for the club is his dream in the midst of Nottingham Forest.
The 20-year-old made it clear that his preference to stay at the Etihad Stadium this month and that the goal is to become a more established starter for Pep Guardiola throughout the season.
Lewis played on Saturday when City Wolves defeated 4-0 and helps the opener Van Erling Haaland, after being surprisingly mentioned about Matheus Nunes.
Forest has looked at a deal for the English international, which appreciates city value on more than £ 30 million.
“I've never seen myself in another club – I've always wanted to play for City,” said Lewis. “It's my dream club, and as you see (at Wolves), when I play with the kind of players I play with, it brings the best in me, so I'm so happy.”
The ability of the Academy Graduate to move to midfield gave the city extra security in central areas on the opening day of the campaign, while his link with fellow academy graduate Oscar Bobb caused significant problems.
Lewis started only four of the last 16 games of the city for wolves and was completely omitted from the team for the FA Cup FA Cup defeat of May by Crystal Palace.
Guardiola spoke with the young person about his current status within the team and there is still uncertainty about how much he could be used.
“It's difficult,” Lewis added. 'Everyone wants certainty and safety, but at the end of the day it is on me. It's on me to act. It is on me to take the opportunities when I do.
'After that there is nothing that I can't blame myself (because). If I take my own opportunities, I do it. If I don't do that, I have to work and get better.
“Last season I played more than the season before, this season I want to play more than last season, so it's always the same goal – becoming an established player.”
