The arrival of Xabi Alonso is certainly good news for the many talented young players in La Fabrica, because they could earn more opportunities compared to when Carlo Ancelotti had the reins at the Santiago Bernabeu. Gonzalo Garcia has already benefited from this, and the next one does resembles Thiago Pitarch.
Pitarch, who is an 18-year-old central midfielder, trains with Alonso's team during their shortened pre-season schedule. He scored during the Achter-Clossed-Deputy match against Leganes earlier this month, and he also appeared in the friendly victory over WSG Tyrol on Tuesday.
There is high expectations of Pitarch, and according to Diario he has now signed a new contract with Real Madrid. He recently wrote an extension, but now that he has turned 18, a longer deal was agreed – and when he was confirmed, he went to social media to express his joy.
“Very happy to be able to expand my contract with the best team in the world! It is an honor to be able to continue to belong and defend this club. Thank you to my family, especially my parents, to always be there; to my friends, that it would not be the same without them; and my agent, to help me in this process. Now it's time to work hard than the maximum, which wishes, what wishes, which wishes, which wishes, which wishes less.”
In recent days, Pitarch has been set up on a call-up of Alonso's team for Real Madrid's first game of the season against Osasuna, and that certainly seems to be the case, because he has been omitted from Castilla's Squadron for a pre-season-friendly played on Sunday.
La Fabrica has an abundance of quality that was often overlooked by Ancelotti, but with Alonso now at the helm, people like Pitarch seem to have a real chance to reach the first team on a consistent base.
