‘I tried’… Alexander Volkanovski delighted with UFC 319 result despite not getting to face his desired challenger

While UFC 319 contained a title fight in the middleweight, there were also great commitment in the Featherweight division.

In the Co-Main event, both man could have pleaded a plea as the next challenger of the title of Alexander Volkanovski.

This was certainly the case after Lerone Murphy Aaron Pico had beaten cold in the first round with a devastating rotating elbow.

Together with immediately praise from Dana White, the victory of Murphy also attracted the attention of Volkanovski, who appeared at zero on the undefeated Brit as his next challenger.

'The Great' continued his thoughts in a recent YouTube video.

Alexander Volkanovski gives Lerone Murphy a lot of praise for making a statement on UFC 319

In a video of his car, Alexander Volkanovski pulled the UFC 319 card and gave his opinion about all fights.

Of course, the one he paid the most attention was the Co-Main event where two of the top names in his division collided.

Lerone Murphy was not necessarily discussed in the near future as a potential challenger for Volkanovski.

In some of his recent victories, 'The Miracle' was criticized because he has remained unbeaten without making fans enthusiastic that he would see him compete in the Octagon.

His stunning knockout about UFC debutant Aaron Pico will certainly change that, where Murphy delivers the explanation he needed to place himself at the front of the line.

Volkanovski agreed to this sentiment when he spoke about what this victory now means to him and his next challenger.

“Huge knockout and you couldn't script better. I am waiting for me to see who it is.

“Now you get a man who goes in and puts an absolutely huge knockout on a large card, on a seven-fight win racing or maybe more, I don't know what it is. I mean, I think it's a bit of a no-brainer.”

Alexander Volkanovski says he was trying to push Movsar Evloev, but nothing came of it

Alexander Volkanovski also hit another competition in the division that he made quite clear that he then wanted to fight after recovering the featherweight gold.

Movsar Evloev was originally planned to welcome Aaron Pico in the Octagon, before he withdrew from the fight and was replaced by Lerone Murphy.

Volkanovski, knowing that some people would say that Evloev earns the next title shot more, shared that he had insisted that this would happen, but it seems that things are now going in a different direction.

“I tried. I'm going to tell you now, I have tried to let that happen. I thought he deserves it. He deserved it … It doesn't look like it will be Movsar, but I mean, I tried it with all. But now it seems that it is Lerone Murphy.
