In recent weeks there have been many discussions about La Liga's plans to organize a competition between Barcelona and Villarreal in Miami. The Spanish football federation has already signed, which means that it will be UEFA and FIFA to decide whether the fixture can be kept in the United States.
There has been an outpouring of the reaction to the news, in which some have very strong negative opinions. But despite this, La Liga President Javier Tebas is convinced that Barcelona and Villarreal will play in Miami in December.
On Saturday Atletico Madrid -head coach Diego Simeone was asked about the subject, and according to Diario As, he replied to typical Simeone -fashion.
“I'm going to tell you what happens to us in life: we are constantly worried about things that can happen, and ultimately you pretend to things that don't really happen. If you think something is going to happen, it usually only does 20% of the time. So we will concentrate on what we have today.”
Atleti are familiar with the United States itself and played there earlier this summer in the club World Cup. But interesting is that they could have played Barcelona themselves in the country, because it was presented for their regular pre-winter break collided in the regular winter in Miami. But on that occasion, La Liga was not successful.
It is understandable that there has been a big reaction to the prospect that a La Liga match is being played in the United States. Barcelona, Villarreal and La Liga agree on this, but it seems certain that they are some of the only ones for the idea.
