Barcelona in talks with Borussia Dortmund over deal for La Masia sensation

Barcelona focuses on outputs for the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window, where it is almost impossible to have further signing sessions happen. A number of players are on the chopping block and one of those to leave can be a La Masia -standing.

The will of Inaki Pena and Oriol Romeu are expected to leave Barcelona in the coming weeks, with both players who are not counted by Hansi Flick for the 2025-26 season. Guille Fernandez is someone who is planning the first team head coach, although there is a chance that he will continue.

Earlier in the summer it was reported that Borussia Dortmund is interested in Guille, who is generally considered one of the best La Masia talents that Barcelona has. And according to Gianluigi Longari (via MD) they have now made their move.

Dortmund has initiated club-to-club conversations with Barcelona, in which they have asked about the contractual situation of Guille and whether an operation is possible.

According to the report, Barcelona is absolutely not planning to let Guille leave permanently. Their plan would be to sort a loan for the young midfielder if he would leave, but given the fact that film is counting on him, there is every chance that he will stay with the ruling La Liga champions for the 2025-26 season.

However, the situation can change, depending on whether Guille wants to make the step. Given that he has for less than two years about his current contract, Barcelona can be forced to cash in if he was not open to signing a new deal, which would only happen next summer when he turned 18.

If Barcelona were to enter into serious negotiations, they would almost certainly try to include a buy-back option and/or a significant sale clause, because this allowed them to remain some control over the Starlet.
