Wayne Rooney has revealed that one of his former teammates from England would not speak to him for six months after an incident that took place in a Premier League match.
The Legend of Manchester United spoke on his new BBC-Podcast The Wayne Rooney Show after his former club started their campaign with a somewhat undeserved 1-0 defeat against Arsenal on Sunday.
Rooney was asked about a notorious match between the two old rivals that took place in the 2004-05 season.
The Red Devils ended the 49 game unbeaten run of Arsenal with a controversial 2-0 win at Old Trafford, Ruud van Nistelrooy opened the score from the criminal place in the second half before Rooney brought the game to injury time.
Rooney went under a challenge from Sol Campbell to win Van Nistelrooy's Spot-Kick and the furious defender and his teammates were convinced that he dived.
After the competition, the tensions cook with Cesc Fabregas that Aslice threw from Pizza to Sir Alex Ferguson, now known as 'Pizzagate'.
After the game, a slice of pizza was thrown to Ferguson by that time by the 17-year-old Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas-a chaotic moment that would be dubbed as the 'Pizzagate' and the 'Battle of the Buffet'.
“It was a big game for Arsenal. If they won it, it would have been 50 games unbeaten for them, “said Rooney.
'We defeated them 2-0 and Campbell spoke not more than six months.
'We met [during international duty] And Sol won't talk to me. Sometimes I was with Sol and I would say to him: “Come on man, we play here for England.”
“But he wouldn't talk to me because he felt I was diving. He left his leg and I think there was a small contact. '
Rooney added to the rivalry: 'When I came to United, it was the great rivalry we had. I used to play it fun to play against them, but it has now died a bit.
'I remember my first game in Highbury for United was the one with Roy and Vieira in the tunnel. You can feel that the game was on a knife edge and even the referees got it.
'We had the Fabregas One with Ferguson in the tunnel – while he threw a pizza to [Ferguson]. There were fights in the tunnel where everyone was involved. '
Riccardo Calafiori scored the only goal of the game when the North -London club won the newest match between the two huge clubs.
There were many positive points for United to take out of the game with new signing sessions Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo who show why United Groot spent on them.
