Crystal Palace is looking for the market for players who can replace the center-back Marc Guehi because their captain is in conversation with Liverpool this summer during a transfer
Crystal Palace has identified a possible replacement for Marc Guehi if his transfer to Liverpool continues in the final phase of the summer transfer window.
Laverpool opened conversations with Palace last week about a deal for Guehi and likes to continue signing the central back of England. The Reds have landed Giovanni Leoni from Parma for £ 26 million, but still want Guehi to strengthen their options in central defense.
The defensive Premier League champions spent more than £ 300 million on new players this summer, but the £ 25 million sale of Ben Doak to Bournemouth means that they have recovered £ 200 million. It is those sales that mean that they can afford to sign Guehi from Palace, but an impasse was created with less than two weeks in the window.
Guehi has left for less than a year on his palace contract and the club is open to sales, but holds on to their £ 45 million appreciation. Liverpool is not willing to go above £ 35 million for the Center-Back and it is that £ 10 million difference that is behind the detention of negotiations.
Nevertheless, Palace is looking for replacements, with the independent report that Rennes star Jeremy Jacquet has emphasized as an option. The 20-year-old defender is highly regarded in France, after he was on loan under loan near Clermont and was mentioned in the team of the tournament for the European Championship under 19 last summer.
Earlier in the summer it was reported that Jacquet rejected that opportunity to become a member of Arsenal. The young person signed a new deal with Rennes until June 2029 and does not seem to be in a hurry to switch to the Premier League.
Palace are realistic about their chances of holding Guehi and Ebereechi this summer, especially after being relegated from the Europa League to the Conference League. Manager Oliver Glasner does not want to lose his two stars, but he likes to play despite the noise around their future.
“Everyone could see the performances against Liverpool and today they were 100 percent in line with this team and Crystal Palace,” he said after they both started the 0-0 draw to Chelsea on Sunday.
“As long as they are 100 percent dedicated, they will play because they are so good. I watched them in training all week, I spoke to them almost daily, maybe more than my children and wife, but it was worth talking to them. They not only showed that they are great football players, but they are great people and that was what I expected.”
While the move from Guehi to Liverpool is on hold for the time being, Eze seems to be acting to join Tottenham after they have gone for the race for the playmaker. Traces are expected to offer £ 55 million plus £ 5 million to add-ons for the midfielder of England.
