Premier League icon Jamie Vardy is still without a club after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season, but he could soon be offered a lifeline by the Italian champions
Jamie Vardy could be set to seal a dream transfer to Italy with Napoli, the ruling Italian champions, said he was interested in signing the veteran -free agent.
Vardy, 38, has been without a club since leaving Leicester at the end of the 2024-25 campaign. And despite ties with countless clubs, both in England and abroad, the former striker of England is still not connected when we are approaching at the end of August. Everton, Celtic and Rangers are among the latest teams related to Vardy, who plundered 200 goals in 500 games for Leicester.
But Napoli also weighs a shock approach for Vardy in their search for a new No. 9. The Italian champions are desperate for attacking reinforcements after they have learned that Romelu Lukaku could be out for a maximum of three months due to a thigh injury.
And the fact that Vardy is available on a free transfer makes him a tempting option for Napoli boss Antonio Conte. The Italian giants also have other goals, such as Rasmus Hojlund by Manchester United and Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, but may have difficulty finance a deal for one of those players – even as United seems to be moving their Danish misfit.
They would not have such problems with Vardy, who made it clear that he wants to continue to play at an elite level. Intriguously there was a move to the Serie A on the cards earlier this summer before Patrick Vieira, the boss of Genoa, apparently a big one for a movement for Vardy.

Tutto Mercato claimed in July that the club's sports director, Flavio Ricciardella, had closed the legwork for a deal that would have been financed by support from sponsors. But while Ricciardella wanted to have the idea of bringing Vardy to Genoa, Vieira did not foreseed that the veteran fitted in his playing style and slides for the club to pull the plug out of a deal, so Vardy Untelched.
More recently, Vardy's wife, Rebekah Vardy, fueled speculation that he could go to the MLS with Inter Miami after sharing a photo of their children in the club's kits on social media. But since then such claims have been shot, with the next step by Vardy still unknown.
