Neymar’s son’s heartfelt message after his father was left in floods of tears

Neymar and his son shared a sweet moment on social media after the Brazilian star had his worst career defeat ever.

The icon lagged in floods on Sunday evening after Santos lost 6-0 to Vasco da Gama.

Neymar returned to his boys' club earlier this year after a 18-month-old nightmare on Saudi-Arabian side Al-Hilal, where he was littered by injuries.

He had a mixed impact in his home country, scored six goals and added three assists in 19 games, but Santos is 15th in the Brazilian top flight and only two points free of the relegation zone.

What they didn't need then was a 6-0 hammering, who saw Neymar overcome with emotion on full-time, tears away with his shirt and was hit by an employee.

His son, Davi Lucca, wrote on social media: 'Good evening, porridge. I know that today has been a difficult day for you and for us, but I wanted you to know that at these difficult moments, and when nobody is by your side, I know that I will always be there for you.

'You are more than a great father, you are an idol, you are my inspiration, and even when you cry, I want you to know that I love you very much.

'Always keep that in mind. Now I want you to keep your head high and reach them as you always have and want. You are incredible. I love you with all my heart. '

Few players have ever seen such a public outpouring of love from one of their family members after a defeat, and Neymar was just as sentimental to his answer.

'I love you, my little one. Dad will be back on his feet, “he replied.

Neymar has never known such a defeat and to rub salt in the wound, colleague Brazilian and former favorite Coutinho of Liverpool scored twice for the opponent.

The previous toughest loss of Neymar's career came back in September 2015 when Barcelona was beaten 4-1 by Celta Vigo in Laliga.

After his emotional eruption, Neymar was extremely strong in his assessment of Santos' performance while explaining why he was crying.

“I'm ashamed,” said Neymar. 'I am completely disappointed about our performance.

'The fans have the right to protest, of course without using violence … But if they want to curse and insult, they are in their right.

“It is a feeling of extreme shame. I have never experienced this in my life. Unfortunately it happened.

“The tears were of anger, everything. Unfortunately I can't help it in all respects. Anyway, it was total s ***, that is the reality. '

In the immediate aftermath, Santos fired their head coach Cleber Xavier while trying to save their terrible season.

During Sunday's game, the brace of Coutinho was supplemented with goals from Lucas Piton, David Correa de Fonseca, Rayan and Danilo Neves.

Coutinho recently came to Vasco, who is his boy's club, with a permanent deal after a successful loan spell last season, because he looks at his career again.

In the meantime, Neymar, who was the recordcorer of Brazil, came back to Santos in January, with the attacker who expressed his goal to retain the top form before the World Cup 2026.

He then extended his contract until the end of the year in June, with the option with another six months.

At the time, club president Marcelo Teixeira claimed that Neymar's return to his boy's club had resulted in considerable commercial benefits for the club in addition to record-breaking social media growth.

He added: “Our idol, our boy, the prince with our number 10 shirt, remains.”

Elsewhere, who spoke in January in January on his romantic return to Santos, Neymar had pronounced his joy about the move.

“I have been) who has been doing this moment for a long time,” he said.

“We help each other, Santos help me, they have opened doors for me to rediscover football, to rediscover joy,” he said.

'I didn't want to sign a long contract because I didn't know how I would get back.

“I didn't know how I would feel during these months. Let's enjoy these moments, it's the start of a great era for Santos. '

When he had extended his contract in June, Neymar added: 'I made a decision and listened to my heart. Santos is not only my team, it's my home, my roots, my history and my life.

'Here I was a boy who became a man, and I am really loved. Here I can be myself, really happy. And it is here that I want to fill the dreams that are missing in my career.

“And nothing will stop me. I am going, I will come back and I will stay. Where it all started and where it will never end. '

Santos are now only two points free from Vasco – and the relegation zone – after the heavy defeat and are the next in action on Sunday when they travel to Bahia.
