It sounds like fans will not soon see the former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou in the cage.
Since Ngannou left the UFC in early 2023 after a long contractual dispute, the heavyweight Koning has only participated once in mixed martial arts.
'The Predator' initially made the best of the freedom that the PFL granted him to pursue a career in boxing. After Ngannou Tyson Fury pushed to the extreme in his debut, he was brutally eliminated by Anthony Joshua in his second fight.
That result was followed by the long-awaited PFL debut of Ngannou in October last October, but it seems that there are no plans for the Cameroonian to return to the cage in 2025.
Francis Ngannou says that the PFL has 'no opponent' for him
Ngannou defeated Renan Ferreira Dominant during the 'Battle of the Giants' event of the PFL and received his term of office in the promotion a strong start.
That fight was immediately followed by questions about who could be confronted with 'The Predator' afterwards, and almost a year later it seems that the PFL still has not come up with an answer.
During a recent performance on the Ariel Helwani show, Ngannou gave a blow to those who are eager at his next MMA performance pending.
“No,” said Ngannou when he was asked if there were discussions about him fighting this year in the PFL.
“I started awarding, sent some e -mails for a fight to see what's on the line. But because there is nothing yet. I don't think they have an opponent for me.
“So we'll wait,” Ngannou added. “We still have time.
“I know they have raised (Vadim) Nemkov, but it didn't play. I might expect the champion, the champion of the tournament. But I still don't know what it looks like.”
Those comments come a few weeks after Ngannou had closed the conversation about a UFC Combackback, which was fueled when coach Eric Nicksick expressed the wish to see his husband back in the Octagon.
Francis Ngannou does not have the same problem in boxing
Fortunately for Ngannou, not all his combat port doors are currently closed.
Although his PFL-Tukomst remains uncertain, 'The Predator' has his sights on another controversial matchup in the boxing ring, while striving for his first victory in sport, who caught his attention for the first time.
Ngannou wants to fight the next fight against Deontay Wilder, and he told Helwani that conversations will soon start for the Blockbuster Heavyweight collision.
“We have not been busy personally, but it will be soon,” said Ngannou.
“We have been set up a number of things.”
