Newcastle United has seen an improved bid on Forward Yoane Wissa rejected by Brentford.
The proposal was worth £ 35 million plus £ 5 million in difficult add-ons but rejected.
Brentford -sources, who speak on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the situation, emphasized that the club did not provide a target price to a team.
Wissa wants the move to St James's Park.
The athletics reported on July 22 that Brentford rejected a £ 25 million from Newcastle for the 28-year-old, who scored 19 Premier League goals in the 2024-25 season.
Nottingham Forest had also rejected an offer for the Dr. Congo International in July, after he had rejected an approach earlier in January.
Wissa returned from the Brentford training camp in Portugal to hold face-to-face conversations about his future with the Brentford hierarchy.
He did not play in the preseason and was absent in the team for their opening game of the Premier League campaign against Nottingham Forest, which ended in a 3-1 defeat.
Newcastle focused their attention on Wissa after cooling their interest in Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, who eventually came to Liverpool. Newcastle missed several Spits goals this summer next to Ekitike, including Joao Pedro, Liam Delap (both Chelsea) and Benjamin Sesko (Manchester United).
Their striving for a frontman comes in the midst of the desire of Alexander Isak to leave, with the Sweden International on Tuesday on social media saying that his relationship with the club cannot 'continue'.
Wissa, who came to Brentford from the French side Lorient in 2021, has another year on his contract and the Premier League club has an option to extend its conditions for 12 months.
Brentford had a summer of great change, in which head coach Thomas Frank left the club to join Tottenham Hotspur alongside three members of his backroom coaching staff. In the meantime, Captain Christian Norgaard came to Arsenal and 20-purpose striker Bryan Mbeumo completed a transfer to Manchester United. Mbeumo and Wissa scored 39 of the 66 goals of Brentford at the top of the top last season.
Wissa has registered 49 goals and 13 assists in 149 performances for Brentford.
