This weekend an incredibly exciting flight weight candidate returns to the Octagon in his heaviest test so far.
August 23, the UFC sees back to China for an event in Shanghai with various remarkable names at the top of the map.
After he retired Anthony Smith last time, Zhang Mingyang will try to add Johnny Walker to his list of impressive victories since he debuted in the promotion in 2024.
The card can contain a number of incredibly hard batters and a featherweight matchup between former title finer Brian Ortega and the ex-Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, but for many fans, one collision that fights in the night that is completely written is planned for the prelims.
Lone'er Kavanagh responds to Ilia Topuria who shouts him during his appearance on the Joe Rogan experience
During his short time in the UFC, Lone'er Kavanagh left all his mark in the flight weight division as an exciting rising competition.
The unbeaten 26-year-old produced a stunning knockout to earn a UFC contract on the Dana White Contender Series and followed this with back-to-back unanimous decision winning.
One of the names that quickly took note of Kavanagh and his potential happens to be one of the biggest stars in sport.
UFC Lichtweight Champion Ilia Topuria mentioned the flight weight perspective during his only performance on the Joe Rogan experience earlier this year before he became two-time champion.
“A man comes to 125. He fought in the last PPV in London. His last name is Kavanagh, in the 125. He will be a problem in that division. He is a very competent hunter.”
In a recent video posted by Cage Warriors, the promotion in which Kavanagh recorded four consecutive victories to earn his candidate series, the UFC Shanghai Star responded to Topuria's comments.
Topuria and Kavanagh had briefly crossed the paths in London earlier this year, with 'El Matador' present to coach his teammate and countryman, Guram Kutateladze.
“I have never looked at Joe Rogan before, but for him to mention it and let people send it to me before I found out, it's just great. Very grateful. Yes, it was really cool to meet him. Super nice guy. Yes, he just gave me some lucky ones and that's it.”
Lone'er Kavanagh plays in one of the most exciting matchups at UFC Shanghai
After having defeated two impressive opponents in Jose Ochoa and Felipe Dos Santos since he arrived in the flight weight division, Lone'er Kavanagh has proven that he is ready for a step.
This is certainly given to him at UFC Shanghai, while he accepts the 11-Fight UFC veteran Charles Johnson.
'INNERGE' recently had the four-Fight win-streak that he collected in 2024, ended by a unanimous loss of decision for Ramazan Temirov.
In that streak was a knockout victory over Joshua, who is now becoming the next flying weight of the challenger.
