SWEDISH COURT ALLOWS PROCEEDING AGAINST KYLIAN MBAPPÉ FOR LACK OF EVIDENCE
Kylian Mbappé, who has been at the center of many questions after a start to the season marked by absences from the French national team and some poor performances at Real Madrid, answered them in an extensive interview last weekend. The striker, who was physically injured with his club in the Champions League, heard on Thursday that the investigation against him in Sweden “had been closed due to lack of evidence”.
Kylian Mbappé spoke extensively in an interview for Clique on Canal+ on Sunday, December 8.
The Real striker spoke about the rape investigation opened in Sweden, in the context of a trip that had caused controversy. He claims he was neither warned nor summoned by the court.
On Thursday, December 12, the Swedish courts even announced that the investigation was “closed due to lack of evidence.”
Investigation against Mbappé in Sweden closed due to lack of evidence
The Swedish justice department announced on Thursday through a statement from the prosecutor responsible for the case that proceedings over rape allegations in Stockholm against Kylian Mbappé (who is not explicitly named) have been dropped due to a lack of evidence.
“During the course of the investigation, one person reasonably suspected of rape and two cases of sexual harassment have been identified, but I am of the opinion that the evidence is not sufficient to continue the proceedings and the investigation has therefore been closed,” justified Marina Chirakova. “The said person was not suspected of any crime.”
