Rasmus Hojlund was out of favor at Manchester United after the arrival of Benjamin Sesko, but a potential exit route for the DANE may have closed
Manchester United has been hit in their efforts to cash in Rasmus Hojlund this summer. Danish striker Hojlund has been a target for AC Milan, with United in the hope of a thick transfer costs, but the Rossoneri have moved to another target.
Strangely enough, former United boss Erik ten Hag played a role. Milan comes after the Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, who has spent the past two years on a Bayer Leverkusen side that now has ten hag in the Dugout.
According to BBC Sport, Milan will loan the 24-year-old, with an option to make the move permanent. Reports elsewhere place the option about £ 26 million – considerably less than the asking price of United for Hojlund.
Boniface scored 21 times in all matches in the 2023-24 season when he helped Leverkusen win a competition and cup double under Xabi Alonso. He got fewer minutes last season, but still thought it was still 11 times.
There is no word about whether Leverkusen himself will enter the Spitsmarkt after he has had Boniface leave. Last season, however, Top Scorer Patrick Schick will continue to lead the line, while Martin Terrier is expected to return in the fall after a serious Achilles injury.
Hojlund leaves the newest development in an uncertain situation. The Danish international came to United for £ 72 million from Atalanta when Ten Hag was in charge, but was omitted from Ruben Amorim's team for the defeat against Arsenal on Sunday.
