Liverpool has already collected almost £ 200 million by selling players this summer and left back Kostas Tsimikas could be the following departure, with Marseille interested in signing him
Marseille is interested in signing Liverpool -defender Kostas Tsimikas this summer, with the Greece International falling in the pecking order in Anfield. Tsimikas spent five years in Liverpool as a backup of the first choice left back Andy Robertson.
However, the Reds spent £ 40 million to bring in Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth this summer and he started in the Community Shield and the Premier League opener of Liverpool. Robertson had to settle for a place on the couch, while Tsimikas did not make the matchday team.
And the Daily Mail now reports that Marseille is ready to offer Tsimikas a new start, with the 29-year-old seen as an ideal fit for the playing style of Roberto de Zerbi. Marseille is looking for a new left back, after he has sold Quentin Merlin to Rennes.
Interestingly, Merlin joined Rennes as a replacement for Adrien Truffert, who was sold to Bournemouth as a replacement for Kerkez. The report adds that Nottingham Forest is also interested in Tsimikas, while Leeds previously considered a movement for the full-back.
When he was asked about his future prior to the last match of last season, Tsimikas Sport 24 told 24: “It is definitely a temptation to play more. But for me the 27-29 games that I play every year play in all competitions for another team and in a different competition.
“Here I am on the Broadway of Football. I am happy here, I have always been happy for five years with these players I had by my side and with the sweater I wore.
“It is very difficult to achieve such a level, to play with a Liverpool shirt in a season in a season. If you think about it, not all players play 50 games, some play 50, others 10, others play five.
“I think that 27 games I have played on average for the past four years is a good number. I would certainly want to play more, but from that moment in this competition I was always happy with this team and I always did my best, so I was okay with the matches I played.”
So far, Liverpool has enjoyed a busy summer and has spent more than £ 300 million on Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni, Giorgi Mhamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Fredie Woodman.
They also caught up with almost £ 200 million by the sale of players, with Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Jarell Quansah, Ben Doak, Caoimhin Kelleher, Tyler Morton, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Nat Phillips all leave.
