Marc Guehi and Ebereechi Eze will both start on Thursday for Crystal Palace in the play-off of the Conference League against Fredrikstad, manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed, while speculation continues to swirl around the futures of the Star Duo of the Eagles.
The rumor mill is entirely around the futures of the English internationals in South Londs, where Liverpool and Tottenham are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Guehi and Eze respectively.
After their expulsion from the Europa League and their opening day against Chelsea, where an eze-free kick was allowed for offside, the Eagles are getting ready to start the club's very first European appointment.
Norwegians Fredrikstad are the only thing between Palace and a place in the conference competition of this season, and Glasner's silk is stimulated by the recording of Eze and Guehi prior to their first-show showdown in Selhurst Park.
“The player [Eze] Gives 100% because he is under contract. Many were surprised that they are both [Eze and Guehi] started against Chelsea and may be surprised again [on Thursday] – But they are dedicated to the team as long as they are here, “said Glasner.
Glasner also rejected the sound around Guehi's reaction after Sunday's draw in Chelsea: “He [Guehi] is one of the most ambitious players I met. He was emotional, exhausted and disappointed that we did not win.
“I see it as the opposite of what is suggested – it shows how far this club has developed, that we are not satisfied with just a draw at Chelsea.”
FA Cup and Community Shield Hero Dean Henderson, sitting next to his manager, repeated the attitude of Glasner.
“They are great guys,” he said. “They are still dedicated and professional – phenomenal against Chelsea.
“They remain dedicated and help the team. They are currently part of us and we will continue to enjoy it.”
After a historic year in South Londs, where Palace Manchester City in the FA Cup final conquered and Liverpool in the Community Shield abandoned to claim the first pieces of the club in their history, Glasner emphasized the importance of remain based.
“It is important to stay humble – goal one is just to be eligible for the group phase,” he added.
