Atletico Madrid has confirmed that the summer signing Alex Baena has sustained a low muscle injury.
Baena, who came to Diego Simeone last month from Villarreal for a reported transfer costs of € 50 million, is expected to miss a maximum of two weeks of action.
The 23-year-old made his Atletico debut in Sunday's 2-1 defeat against Espanyol and played 68 minutes before he was replaced by Antoine Griezmann.

“The red-white number 10 will undergo physiotherapy sessions and gym-based repair work, and the progress of his injury will determine his return to competition.”

It is believed that the seriousness of the Baena Miss Atletico's next two LaLiga matches against Elche will see this weekend and Alaves on August 30.
This means that the midfielder could return to the ranks of Simeone to be confronted for former employers Villarreal on 14 September.
