Nate Diaz says he has rejected a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov because he was new to the UFC

While Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov have never met in the Octagon, there was talk about them for a while.

Diaz recently appeared on a stream with Sneako where he spoke about why he refused this matchup when it was initially offered to him.

It is not exactly clear when the fight was thrown to him and his team, although Dana White claimed in 2014 that the fan favorite had rejected a fight with 'The Eagle'.

In the year that Nurmagomedov made his UFC debut, Diaz was one of the best hunters in the lightweight division, after compiling a three-field win streak that gave him a chance to the title of Benson Henderson.

The 40-year-old star stated during the stream that this is the reason why he had turned a fight around this time with the unbeaten Russian because he did not believe it was logical to him.

“He has rejected a fight with me.” I had something like that, I didn't even know who you were. They offered me a fight against Khabib when he was brand A – new. I fought for a title, and I already fought Hella people and they offered me a fight with Khabib.

“I was like f— you. You are going to make a name with a new man? Give me someone in the top F – Five. I just fought against the champion, so now I have to fight someone on the list?”

Chael Sonnen gave a positive update about the potential UFC return from Nate Diaz

There is a lot of talk about Nate Diaz, which may have made a UFC co -pack at a certain moment in the near future.

Although the fight seems unlikely, Diaz has added to this discussion by calling Max Holloway and placing his claim as the real BMF champion.

In a recent episode of ESPN's 'Good Guy / Bad Guy', Chael Sonen claimed that he had spoken with Diaz, which suggests that although he did not expect the star to return to lightweight, he thinks he could fight again.

“I don't think that's in his cards, but I think – and I spoke to Nate personally – a return is more possible than some people give the credit.”

Although there has been no official update about whether he returns to the Octagon, an event such as the map of the promotion in the White House in 2026 could seduce him back.
