Manchester United was approached by other clubs with regard to Harry Maguire.
Harry Maguire has revealed that Manchester United has rejected questions about his availability this summer and hinted that he would like to extend his stay by signing a new contract.
Maguire starts his seventh season in the club after his £ 80 million ($ 107.7 million) relocation from Leicester City in 2019.
In January United activated an option to extend his contract until 2026.
But the middle behind said that clubs did not stop showing their interest during the summer transfer window.
“I think there were a few clubs who might have asked or talked to them [United] And I think they got a quick response, “said Magire.
“I am pretty sure that the club made it aware this summer that I cannot leave on conditions with other clubs who ask about things and my position with my contract.
“We are in a good place, positive like a club and I feel that the hierarchy has arrived and Jason [Wilcox] And the manager, I feel they are taking it in the right direction.
“I think it has been, since I started where it is six years ago, it is in a completely different place in terms of the structure behind the management staff.”
Maguire would no longer have had a contract this summer if United had not taken over their option to extend his deal for another 12 months.
Now in the last year, he can start talking with clubs outside the Premier League from 1 January if there is no new agreement with United.
The 32-year-old does not give much away about his future, but suggested that his preference is to stay with Old Trafford.
“Last year the clause was in the hands, so there was no option for me there. There was no talk,” said Maguire, who spoke in the holiday camp of a Manchester United Foundation at Stretford High School.
“It was just that they activated it and it was expanded. This year I am of course at the end of the year.
“I am sure they will sit down in the coming months and we have to have a conversation about where we want to go and whether they want to extend or of course the transfer window will be opened again in January.
“I have something in my mind about what I want to do and what I want to be. I don't want to release it there for everyone, but it's a great club to play for and you would be stupid if you wanted to stand out as quickly as possible.”
