La Liga hopes to organize a competition outside of Spain for the first time this season, with the December match between Villarreal and Barcelona being selected. However, it will not be easy to get it completely approved, even though the Spanish football federation has already been canceled.
Real Madrid has already resisted the game and they are now accompanied by the Spanish player association. In a statement on Thursday (via Sport) they made it clear that they are also not amused about the possibility that a La Ligamature will be played in the United States.
“The Association of Spanish football players (AFE) and all La Liga captains met on Thursday afternoon to assess that, as announced by the RFEF on 11 August, UEFA and FIFA would increase for the dispute, outside the national territory, of a La Liga match this season.
“AFE required La Liga to provide a descriptive report with all the details to inform the players and to know their opinion. In her response, the employers' association denied any responsibility for anticipating the plan and only promised to report on the progress of the authorization process.
“Faced with this situation, we are of the opinion that, due to the absence of dialogue and information to the players, the start of the procedures of a project has been promoted by La Liga and without any information by the RFEF's board of directors, a lack of respect for the players when changes at the national site and an inner site implies a displacement.
“We are united. We want respect and transparency.”
It is still to be seen how this issue takes place, but a resolution is expected to be known at the end of next month.
