Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca prefers to risk a pointed crisis than to keep an unfortunate pair of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nunku.
Becauseaway Forward Jackson and Nunku are omitted outside the blues team for the first trip from Friday to West Ham, even though both are fit.
Arsenal was forced back to the transfer market when Kai Havertz sustained a knee injury, leaving Viktor Gyokeres as their only available Center-Forward.
When asked if it might be better to keep Jackson as a backup of new signing sessions Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, Maresca said: “It's better for Nico if he wants to happen.
“It is available, but he will not be part of the team because we have two players in that position – and we know that something can happen before the transfer window closes.
“The player is open to leave. If he finds a good solution, he leaves.
“Christo is with us like Nico, but it is the same answer as Nico. We will see if they will be here.
“It is always better if they find a solution because they become happier – and the club the same.
“But you need someone you are going to buy. It's not that easy.”
Newcastle, Aston Villa, Napoli and others have all shown interest in Jackson without indicating that they will satisfy Chelsea's £ 60m-plus valuation.
The blues are not willing to stir the strikers on loan, the Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig option prefer Nkunku.
When both end, Maresca will be happy with the options that Pedro and Delap offer.
He said: “Pedro probably gives us more than Liam in small spaces.
“Liam probably gives us a little more in terms of physicality, in terms of runs behind.
“So it depends a bit on the game plan.”
But neither Pedro nor sub Delap came close to breaking the impasse in the 0-0 home stretch last Sunday with Crystal Palace.
So although the future of Nunku and Jackson remain uncertain, there is no doubt that Maresca will already be under pressure if the blues do not beat the Hamers without them.
But the Italian is stimulated by the return of defender Tosin Adarabioyo prior to Friday's collision.
