Eddie Howe has admitted his sadness to Alexander Isak's explosive statement while the Newcastle Forward pushes to secure a move to Liverpool.
Isak broke his silence on his strike and continuous Transfersaga on Tuesday evening, where the 25-year-old claimed that trust was lost and that a change was best for all parties.
Newcastle hit back into the attacker and insisted that they had listened to and tried to facilitate his wishes before they add that they now expect to welcome him back to the team.
Howe confirmed that Isak will not be available for Liverpool on Monday, but has expressed his wish to see the forward return to the first team of Newcastle.
“It was a sad moment,” said Howe, reflective on Isak's statement.
'My preference is that these things do not happen publicly. They are better treated behind closed doors. But needs must. The club spoke, and rightly at that time.
“He is contracted, he is our player.
“My wish is that he would play on Monday. He won't be and that is regrettable. But 100 percent I want it back in a shirt in Newcastle. '
