Villarreal has established a new club transfer record with the signing of Renato Veiga on the Premier League side Chelsea. The deal can be worth a maximum of € 25 million for the 22-year-old, who joins a long-term agreement.
Paco Alcacer currently has the record for the most expensive signing of Villarreal for € 25 million, and Diario, capable of the deal closed for € 24.5 million, with another € 5 million available in variables. However, they say that those bonuses are difficult to fulfill. Anyway, Veiga represents a large investment for Villarreal, which thinks just as many in their announcement video with the motive 'All in'.
Their seventh most expensive signing Logan Costa (€ 18 million) and Willy Kambwala (€ 10 million) arrived last summer, and this year Santiago Mourino was accompanied for € 10 million from Atletico Madrid. The versatile defender can play in central defense, left-back and in midfield, and has already played in a number of clubs. Veiga started life at Sporting CP in a professional sense and two years ago had a season on loan on Augsburg in the Bundesliga before he came to FC Basle. From there, Chelsea spent € 14 million to bring him in and last January he had a loan in Juventus.
