Daniel Farke sends warning to Leeds players after £18m signing of Noah Okafor took number of summer arrivals to NINE

Leeds Baas Daniel Farke insists that he is happy to manage a large team after making nine signing sessions this summer – and admits that he does not have much sympathy with players who do not start.

Noah Okafor became their latest recruit on Thursday, with the attacker of AC Milan in a deal worth £ 18 million.

Leeds has now spent more than £ 90 million since winning the championship and for today's trip to Arsenal, Farke said: 'It's professional football, I am here to win football matches and to establish this club in the Premier League, I am not here to win the Nobel Prize for Peace.

'I have been able to start a group of nearly 30 players and only 11. Very often only six or seven play the full 90 minutes, so the larger part of the group is always disappointed. I don't like to feel sorry for them.

“Of course the work comes with pressure and they are not robots.”

Farke added: “It is the most difficult part of the work because you have to disappoint people, but it is professional football and you are paid strongly for this.”

The Leeds boss also defended Mikel Arteta on the fact that the Spaniard has done an 'excellent' task.

With the expected signing of Ebereechi Eze, Arsenal's transfer expenditure since Arteta in December 2019 will take over the £ 900 million. The Gunners are second in each of the last three Premier League seasons and only won the FA Cup under Arteta.

“You must have the amount he has spent in context,” Farke said. 'It's impressive, but if you spend many years at one club, it is more likely that you reach these amounts. He has done an excellent, impressive work.

'I remember that in Norwich there was the change of management at Arsenal. He had a team that played very differently compared to what they have delivered in recent years. It is very impressive.

'I can remember my first chat with him a few years ago after he had taken over a difficult situation. He said, “Daniel, at least they start running and working a little.” How well they have done in recent years, they dominate so many games and sometimes they are unplayable. It's just the last step to win some trophies, but you can't underestimate the work he did.

“He has done it incredibly to make them so consistent at the highest level. The title would be the icing on the cake and if you look back on what he did, it would certainly be deserving for the hard work and the basis he has created in recent years. He should be proud. '
