Bayern Munich had much to celebrate after she had stopped their defending defense with a 6-0 over RB Leipzig in 2025/26 Bundesliga opener.
Beyond the score there was also a successful tactical tweak. Bayern – after the injury of Jamal Musiala – a ten were needed.
After looking at the attacker Michael Olise struggle in the ten lock during the pre-season and DFL Supercup, FCB head coach Coach Vincent Kompany chose Serge Gnabry to move ten while Olise took over the right wing. Everything worked to perfection.
Gnabry – who also did well on the right side in the Supercup – bite two assists. Olise added the brace of a scorer. When asked about the tactical implementation at the press conference after the game, Kompany had a question for the reporter for the first time.
“It was not easy for Serge Gnabry in Bayern,” the reporter began. “Today he excelled at ten. How do you assess his current form?”
“What do you mean it wasn't easy for him?” Kompany reacted back in German.

“I am not surprised from my perspective,” concluded Kompany. “It is not the case that he was better than normal tonight. He has his position with the German national team and it is important that he can play for us in the center.”
