Rayan Ait-Nouri was only forced into the game at the Etihad Stadium with what seemed to be an ankle injury.
The arrival of £ 33.7 million had fallen and received medical attention around 15 minutes before he continued.
But City made the decision to drag him off when he went down again and he was replaced by Nathan Ake.
