Girona has had a quiet summer so far, but that will change in the last days of the summer transfer window. The sale of Miguel Gutierrez to Napoli, in combination with the approaching departure of Ladislav Krejci to Wolves in a deal of € 35 million, means that the Catalans have money to spend – and part of it could go to a familiar face.
The last 12 months have been disappointing for Girona, who have not built on in third place in the La Liga campaign of 2023-24. They avoided scary relegation last season, so a reaction will be needed in 2025-26, although it did not start well because they lost 3-1 to Rayo Vallecano last weekend.
That competition showed that signing sessions are desperately needed and that one area to be tackled is left. And it appears that a return for Bryan Gil could be on the cards, where Nil Sola reported that Girona has restored their interest in the Tottenham Hotspur player.
Gil has no future in Tottenham, who wants to move him further before the summer transfer window is closed. A return to Spain has been speculated and it could now happen with Girona.
According to the report, Girona Gil wants to sign on loan again, with a view to permanently sign him when his Spurs contract ends the following summer. The Premier League side will now give priority to a sale, although that can be difficult to be done, especially because the 24-year-old is very interested in a return to Montilivi.
It is still to be seen whether Gil will return to Girona by the end of the summer. He was somewhat overwhelming during his time in the club last season, although he should be able to improve if he settled in Catalonia.
