The injuries of Arsenal got further deeper on Saturday evening football when Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard were picked up against Leeds.
Gunners captain Odegaard went under a challenge in the first half and suffered from what a shoulder injury seemed to be, which initially played through.
Arsenal's misery deteriorated in the second half when Saka – who had scored the second goal of Arsenal on the break – perished with what looked like a drawn left hamstring.
The international Van England missed four months of last season with a serious hamstring injury and was replaced by Leandro Trossard in the 53rd minute.
“You can read his lips,” said Gary Neville on co-commentary for Sky Sports.
“He said,” Oh my God. “This is something he doesn't like. It's a tough start, he is a tough boy. He doesn't get easy or never injured.”
And Nick Wright from Sky Sports added: “Saka looks worried when he goes out. So the Arsenal fans around us. There are a few words in the ear of Arteta and his assistant, then it is in the tunnel, his head shaking while he goes.”
Again, the injury problems for Arsenal are piling up for an early season shows with Liverpool next weekend, live on Super Sunday.
Kai Havertz was already excluded prior to the match against Leeds, although the size of his injury has not yet been revealed.
Summer Signing Christian Norgaard also has to make his debut while he continues to recover from an injury, while Ben White has not passed a late fitness test for Saturday's game.
The minutes of Jurrien Timber are still managed – although he scored twice and has helped against Leeds – while Gabriel Jesus continues his recovery of an ACL injury.
The injury care comes after a jubilant introduction before the Ebereechi Eze competition, which was introduced in the home crowd that was wearing the NO 10 shirt after signing Crystal Palace on Saturday.
