Barcelona was made to work hard in their second game of the new season, because they came from 2-0 to beat Levante 3-2 in the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia. And the architect of that comeback was Pedri, who got the first goal of the evening in front of Hansi Flick with a beautifully stuffing strike in the upper corner.
After the game, Pedri spoke with Movistar+ (via MD). He gave his reaction to how things took place in Valencia and how Barcelona managed to drag himself back in the game in the second half. He also spoke about his goal.
“We knew it would not be an easy land, we knew that they would not make it easy for us with the ball and it was difficult for us. In the second half we had more possession, Raphinha got between the lines.
“They always tell me that I have to shoot, and today I tried it. The first shot with my left foot was not great, but the second went inside.”
Pedri was also asked about the controversial decision to grant Levante a penalty after Alejandro Balde had been assessed to have dealt with the ball of a Jose Luis Morales strike.
“Recently we received a lecture in the Ciudad Deportiva de Las Manos. Last season Tchouaméni's in Montjuïc was a clear handball for me, this was not and they whistle it, what they will whistle will be. The truth is that I don't understand, but they must explain it to everyone.”
It has been a fantastic start to the season for Pedri, who continues to work as one of the best midfielders in world football. Barcelona is incredibly happy to possess a player of his quality, and so far he is on his way to replicate his displays from last season.
