Arsenal dealt injury update on Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard’s injury lay-offs

Arsenal has been given a double injury boost with injuries suffered by Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka who is said to be not as bad as it was feared for the first time.

Gunners -skipper Odegaard suffered a right shoulder injury in the 14th minute when he fell after he had been retired by Leeds' Anton Stach.

Saka fell just after the hosts scored their third goal against the visitors, thanks to the summer signing of Viktor Gyokeres.

According to The Times, it is not thought that the injuries to both Odegaard and Saka ensure that they miss an important period – although both can miss the trip to Liverpool next weekend.

Saka took the time to leave the field carefully and was greeted by his manager with a hug while he was exchanged for Leandro Trossard.

The 23-year-old has reason to concern, even if his replacement was a precaution, after missing a large part of last season due to a hamstring tear.

Saka took the injury against Crystal Palace last December and was sidelined with violence until the beginning of April.

Arsenal's No 7 underwent an operation before the end of 2024, and while he recovered, his absence of Arteta's Start XI was deeply felt – with the game that had previously only missed 10 games during Arsenal's last 172 games in all competitions.

Odegaard also missed a series of competitions in the fall last year after an ankle injury in international duty with Norway.

Arteta, however, is floating that his side retains the quality to end their series of second -placed finishes.

When asked if this team was his best since he was in charge of the club in December 2019, Arteta said: “In terms of figures and quality, yes for sure.”

Arteta was also determined that the signing of Ebereechi Eze was not a response to Havertz's injury. He said: 'I think it was very clear what I said the (transfer company) was not ready.

'Of course we were very active to look at the possibilities that could come. We don't respond to anything, we are very prepared and understand what we could do, and we have decided that this is the time to do it. '

After the Havertz injury, he added: 'Well, he is certainly not suitable for this competition. Unfortunately he has taken an injury and we don't really know its size yet. I think we need a little more time and more tests and then we have more clarity about the next steps.

'He is in a good place mentally. He is really a strong boy, very dedicated.
