Serie A Side Como does not mean that midfield star Nico Paz will leave the club before the end of the summer transfer window.
Paz was associated with a potential return to Real Madrid in the summer, as a possible option for rebuilding Xabi Alonso in the Spanish capital, but he chose a move back.
Former Real Madrid -Baas Carlo Ancelotti chose to sell Paz last summer after he had accepted an offer for the attacking midfielder from Como for around € 6 million.
However, the small print of the agreement enables Real Madrid to keep their future options open on PAZ, as part of a structured exit package with the Cesc Fabegas side.
This included three separate drill-back options that would come into effect in 2025, 2026 and 2027 respectively.
The first of these, worth € 8 million, was activated at the beginning of the summer, but according to Sky Sports Italia (via football Italia) Real Madrid did not activate it before passing.
The latest update indicated that Tottenham was ready to blow the situation wide open with an offer of € 45 million after losing Rivals Arsenal in the race for Ebereechi Eze.
Real Madrid was happy with that scenario, because the club would receive a 50% clause as part of the previous deal with Como.
Spurs want to bring in desperate new players before the transfer deadline of 1 September, but Fabregas seems to have closed the door on a possible exit this month.
“I am very calm and relaxed, Nico is very happy here at Como. He is a top player.”
After Como's return to the Serie A-Action, the former midfielder spoke in a 2-0 home victory on Lazio, where Paz produced a player of the match view with a goal and an assist for the hosts.
