Xabi Alonso: Rodrygo and Mastantuono will be crucial for Real Madrid in 2025

Xabi Alonso chose to shake his Real Madrid team for their 3-0 LA Liga victory at Real Oviedo with major changes.

The former Spain International chose to return Club captain Dani Carvajal and the Antonio Rudiger lace-up center to his starting XI instead of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Eder Militao.

The changes took place in midfield and the attacks with Franco Mastastuono who made his first start for the club and Rodrygo is recalled after he had not shown against Osasuna.

Brahim Diaz and Vinicius Junior were the players who stopped and the last came from the bank to score the third goal of the night.

Kylian Mbappe stole the show with two goals, both sides of the break, but the recall from Rodrygo was big news for fans of Real Madrid.

Alonso has consistently blamed questions about his plans to sell the Brazil international for the end of August.

Despite the fact that he only played a limited role at the FIFA Club World Cup, Alonso seems to keep him at least until January, and the ex-midfielder confirmed that there are no exit plans for him for or Mastantuono on loan.

“Rodrygo had a good game. He connected well with Carreras, Arda and Kylian. He is just another player in the team,” according to Marca.

“He [Mastantuono] played a very good game. He will give us a lot this season. He has a lot of energy and his connection with the team is good both inside and outside. “

The flexibility offers Alonso another option for his attack with Diaz, Arda Guler, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Mbappe and Mastanuono who can all treat multiple positions.

Real Madrid now host Mallorca in their last game before the September with a collision against the Jagoba Arrasate team in the Spanish capital on August 30.
