Wayne Rooney says that Ruben Amorim no longer has any apologies – and must get results quickly.
Despite a summer expenditure of £ 200 million, Manchester United has only taken one point of their first two Prem matches.
And the leading goal scorer of the club admits that he is worried that some of the characteristics of their disastrous campaign 2024/25 are still there.
Amorim has only 28 points of his first 29 league games since he was in charge of Old Trafford in November.
Their run to the last term of the Europa League left the attention of the fact that they finished in 15th place.
But after the draw in Fulham, when the Red Devils expressed after a promising start, Rooney says that victories should start to come quickly.
He said: “There is no excuses for the manager this season now. He must get results and get them quickly.
“As soon as you start with October or November, the results do not change drastically, that is when the pressure comes.
“They had to hit the ground this season and a point of six is a bit of a concern.”
Asked if Amorim is the right man for the long term, Rooney added: “It is difficult to sit here and say 'yes 100 percent'. I don't think anyone can do that.
“I don't think Ruben would probably say that with what we have seen since he went to the club.
“I think recruitment was good in the summer – although I would still like to see two or three players.
“But it's hard to say that this will be our manager for the next five years based on what we have seen.”
Amorim has had a full preseason to work with his team, but the United Legend is afraid that some of the same mistakes will take place again.
Speaking on the Wayne Rooney show he said: “I might be going too fast here, because United brings much more attention and we are only two games in the season
“But the worrying sign is that we see things that we saw last season and that is a concern.
“He had the preseason and brought players in, you would like to see a little more and see the players understand their roles a little better.”
“There is a lot to work on.
“Players are moved to different positions and you can't get a fixed run in the team.
“There is a lot of skill in it – but the care is even with three central backs, it is too easy for attackers to get it.
“At the start of a new season you should say:” Last year disappeared, let's stay together “but we are already starting to see holes.
“That is a great concern for me. Every corner that you are worried about the goalkeeper.”
