Cristian Chivu greeted the “Show of Maturity” of his Inter-team after they start their search for the Serie A title with a thumping 5-0 win over Torino.
Chivu, who took the lead on his first league match since replacing Simone Inzaghi, watched while the brace of Marcus Thuram led his side to a comfortable victory on Monday.
Alessandro Bastoni placed Inter in front in the 18th minute before Thuram took his first of the game eight minutes before half -time.
Inter Captain Lautaro Martinez stated the result seven minutes after the restart before Thuram brought his brace forward just after the hour.
Ange-Yoan Bonny then closed the score of his league debut for the Nerazzurri, in which the former Parma man finished past Franco Israel in the 72nd minute.
In the result, Inter won their opening match of a top-flight season with five goals for the third time in their history, the first in 1961 when they defeated Atalanta 6-0.
Inter was clinically during their victory and ended the game with an expected goals (XG) a total of 1.62 of their 20 shots, compared to Torinos 0.98 xg of 12 attempts at Yann Sommer's net.

And Chivu, who only became the second Romanian coach who took the lead over Inter, after Mircea Lucescu in 1998-99, quickly applauded the calmness.
“We worked hard and the boys gave a great reaction, they try to leave the past behind them and this was a show of maturity,” Chivu told Sky Sports Italia.
“From the first training day, the players embraced what they should do, got their heads down and that is why they were in such a good shape today.
“It didn't have to be taken for granted after a complicated summer without much time to prepare.
“It's not just about legs, but also mentality. Mentality gives you that little extra, and we work hard on that aspect.”
Chivu, however, refused to be attracted to speculation about a potential swoop for Atalanta striker breathola lookman before the transfer window is closed.
Only one of the new signing sessions from Inter, Petar Sucic, was mentioned in the starting line -up against Torino, with Bonny in the 67th minute instead of Thuram.
Andy Diouf and Luis Henrique also stood up in the second half with the result already sealed, but Chivu was pushed on the need for more reinforcements.
“I would rather talk about the game, but there are still a few days left in the transfer window, so we have time to discuss it,” said Chivu.
