Khamzat Chimaev ‘welcomed’ by newly-crowned champion to move up in weight and fight for second UFC title

Khamzat Chimaev has been told that he is welcome to try his luck on a second UFC title in light heavy weight.

It is not even two weeks ago that Chimaev Drica Du Plessis has on a boring main event at UFC 319 in Chicago. Fans, however, are already screaming to see him compete for a second world title, with Magomed Ankalaev a more likely option than a step back down.

Both champions in light-heavyweight and welterweight have their own respective title fights. In the meantime, Chimaev would like to compete more actively as champions and has even insisted on a return in October to UFC 321.

Magomed Ankalaev sends a message to Khamzat Chimaev W into as a super fight

Magomed Ankalaev has had an impressive series of results after losing his UFC debut in a stunning entry against Paul Craig. He dethroned Alex Pereira earlier this year with a decision of five rounds and will rematch him in October at UFC.

Magomed Ankalaev says that the rematch with Alex Pereira will be 'much easier' than the first fight 👀

“I actually want him to be 100% in this fight, so there are no questions about the outcome. I don't want to hear talking like the last time he is not ready or something like that … pic.twitter.com/pcgmsofbki

However, he still has to face an opponent like Khamzat Chimaev who can put pressure and defend the Takedown at a top level. Both men actually seem stylistic that it would be seen as a potential super fight.

“I am still in this division,” Ankalaev told Sport24ru in an interview translated by championship rounds. “If someone wants to go upstairs and want to test my weight class, I always say 'welcome'. [Chimaev] Goes up, he moves up. No problem.”

Khamzat Chimaev has many options for his return to the UFC

Even after just a few days, Chimaev has already emerged as one of the most intriguing stories in the UFC. His total domination of Du Plessis – which seemed unbeatable – opens him for multiple options in three different weight classes.

Chimaev has always claimed that he wants to become a three -weight world champion. That could go back to the Welterweight that he missed twice, to combat the winner of Jack della Maddalena against Islam Makhachev.

Otherwise a whole series of opponents will wait on top of the middleweight division. Not to mention the potential to go into weight to combat fellow joke Ankalaev for his belt.
