US Sassuolo Calcio announces that the registration of player Nemanja Matić has completed until 30 June 2026, with an automatic extension for the following season after the occurrence of certain contractual conditions.
A Serbian midfielder with great international experience, charisma and quality, nicknamed “The Wolf”, Matić brings leadership, temperament and a successful career for the black-green team. Born in Šabac on August 1, 1988, he grew up as a football player in the youth sectors of Red Star and Partizan before taking his first steps between the “big” clubs with Jedinstvo UB, the black-green team of Kolubara, and US Košice, the last club he had SHONE until his first national team call-ups.
In 2009 he arrives in England in Chelsea, where he immediately wins his first FA Cup. After a stint in Vitesse and three solid seasons with Benfica, he returns to the blues in 2014 under the guidance of José Mourinho, with whom he wins two leading competitions, one competition cup and accumulates more than 120 performances in the competition and European competitions. In 2017 he moves to Manchester United, makes his debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid and will become a mainstay of the Red Devils with more than 120 performances. In 2022 he will transfer to Roma in Italy, men's mind with Mourinho and a high-level season that culminates in the Europa League final. He then puts on the sweaters of Rennes and Lyon in France.
