Canelo Alvarez was once made to wait more than an hour to walk on a world title fight due to delays caused by the UFC, but he insists that Dana White is not the fault.
In 2019, UFC 244 went against each other at Madison Square Garden with the historical challenge of Alvarez for the world title of Sergey Kovalev. Promoters and broadcasters in the MGM Grand Garden Arena decided to push their show back and even show the UFC at the famous location.
It led to a viral image of Alvarez apparently half asleep on a leather sofa while he was completely gloved and ready to fight. However, he has no bad will with White, especially since the couple will act for a super fight on 13 September between him and Terence Crawford on Netflix.
UFC 244 caused a huge delay in the historical title fight of Canelo Alvarez
On November 2, 2019, the entire combat sports world looked at the showdown of Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal for the inaugural BMF title. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was set up to present the belt, and Madison Square Garden pulled in a port of more than $ 6,575,996.
In the United States in Las Vegas, however, Canelo Alvarez was set to make a history himself. After winning his first world title as low as super-Belgian weight, the Mexican went to light heavyweight to compete with Sergey Kovalev for another belt.
The biggest star of Boxing was forced to wait more than an hour after Dazn reached a deal with the UFC and ESPN to postpone their broadcast. Dana White seemed stunned by the developments and noted that he could not have dreamed of such a scenario in the past.
“So we were there, and MGM called and said that:” You are now halfway through your co-limain event, “White told reporters in New York City.” “People lose their minds here,” or whatever. ” Can we show the Diaz fight on the MGM?
“I was just like:” Holy S —! This is crazy! This is getting crazier with the minute! ” I woke up and dreamed all of this that it could happen.
Canelo Alvarez insists that there was never a feud with Dana White about Kovalev -Incident
Despite the incident in 2019, it never caused bad blood between Alvarez and White. The couple now work together in a promotional capacity for Netflix Super-Fight of September 13 with Terence Crawford, which is expected to be the biggest fight of the year.
Asked by Bloody Elbow in Las Vegas if he had forgiven White, Alvarez replied that he was never the issue and just answered: “F – and, that platform made me wait.”

He continued to notice that it was Dazn and Golden Boy promotions that he had more of a problem with and said: “But then I got angry. Not about him [Dana]I just never wait for anyone. “
Wit then added: “I don't think we've ever had a beef about it, just listen that I have known Canelo for a while, we have never had a problem. Super nice guy with good people, the same with Crawford, it's a great situation because I like both boys.”
