Bayern boss Kompany compares Michael Olise to De Bruyne: I see total calm in him

Kevin De Bruyne introduced himself to Italy by scoring in his first match for the new side Napoli after his move from Manchester City this summer. The Belgian, celebrated with a short message in English: “Get started!” After his brutal free kick in the second half, the side helped to win 2-0 against Sassuolo.

In the meantime, while De Bruyne lights up the Serie A, Olise has also been impressive in the past year after scoring 17 goals and registering 21 assists in all competitions in 2024-25. This was followed with three goals and two assists in the club World Cup and two goals against RB Leipzig in their opening bundesliga collision.

For Wednesday, Bayern's DFB-Pokal spoke first round with Wehen Wiesbaden on Wednesday, praised Kompany Olise and compared him with De Bruyne with whom he worked in Manchester City many years ago.

“Michael's figures are not my priority. But I do expect him to get better and make steps. I have also seen the development of talents as a player, perhaps similar to Kevin De Bruyne.

“What is important is what they do every day in training. I see total calmness in him. Now he has won something, but that is in the past.”

Reports have suggested that Olise has a release clause, which will become active in 2026. Sitting next to Kompany, sports director Christoph Freund, refused to comment on it and suggested that he is a long -term property.

“We generally don't talk about contract details. Our goal is that Michael will stay with FC Bayern for a long time. He is an exceptional talent.”
