Kobbie Mainoo did not appear in the first two games of the new season of Manchester United and it has been reported that the midfielder is open before departure before the Deadline Day of the transfer
Ruben Amorim has insisted that there will be 'many competitions' for Kobbie Mainoo if he chooses to stay in Manchester United. Mainoo, 20, has so far rooted on the couch this season and cannot be appeared in any of the first two games of the Red Devils.
The midfielder was an unused replacement when United started the new campaign with a 1-0 loss against Arsenal before Amorim left him on the bench again during Sunday's 1-1 draw to Fulham. Teammates Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro are preferred in midfield, with Manuel Ugarte and Mason Mount also used.
The future of Mainoo is immersed in uncertainty as a result of his absence, with now popping up that the 20-year-old is willing to leave Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes next Monday. The Red Devils also do not exclude his sales after he has not agreed to a new contract with the Mainoo representatives in recent months.
The 10-way England-International has two more years about his current deal at Old Trafford, which he signed shortly after the first team of United in February 2023. Amorim's reluctance to use Mainoo, has put his direct future into the spotlight.
Mainoo could finally get a start when United starts their Carabao Cup campaign to Grimsby Town on Wednesday. Prior to the second round draw, Amorim insisted that players have to fight for the places' in his team, but will repeat those opportunities' for everyone '.
“They just have to fight for the places, and then everything can change,” said the red Devils boss, who held his pre-grimSby News Conference after the Fulham match.
“Sometimes people play at other times, playing other guys, and we have the cups, so we are going to have a lot of games for everyone.”
It would certainly raise more questions if Mainoo did not meet against competition two opposition. While the Red Devils return to Premier League promotion in Burnley on Saturday in their last match before the international break, Amorim is expected to call a much changed XI for the trip to Grimsby.
Should Manchester United Kobbie Mainoo sell? Say in the commentary part.
“We have three games this week, we have quality players and we have to do rotation to try to win every game,” added the United Manager. “All players are available. Then we will make the choice to get the best starting XI to win every game.”
Mainoo hopes to seize every opportunity and make a late push to be admitted to the English team of Thomas Tuchel for two world cup qualifications. The Drie Leeuwen will face Andorra in Villa Park on Saturday 6 September before they made the trip to Serbia three days later.
