Tony Ferguson has failed five separate times to face Khabib Nurmagomedov, has thought how Conor McGregor cost him a further chance to face the Russian.
Former interim champion Tony Ferguson returns to the competition and will fight in the Co-Main event of Mistfits Boxing 22, which records YouTuber Salt Papi in a boxing showdown.
In the past this year, the UFC, after he had suffered a promotional eight-fast loss of Skid, had previously set a record for the most consecutive victories-in a sensational 12 straight victories.

And during his Recordrun, Ferguson would fight five separate occasions against Khabib Nurmagomedov, ultimately to never fight against the Russian star in the midst of their tense rivalry.
But in a Stark recognition, Ferguson reveals that he was almost set up to coach the ultimate hunter against Nurmagomedov, until the historic rival Conor McGregor ruined that plan.
Tony Ferguson reveals Conor McGregor Nixed Tuf Battle with Khabib Nurmagomedov
Oxnard -Veteraan Ferguson picked up the headlines earlier this week and again stirred the proverbial pot to his long rivalry with Dagestan star Nurmagomedov.
Namely, the former interim light weight title holder claimed that Nurmagomedov and McGregor were quite lucky that their management team prevented them from being confronted with him during his prime in the division.
And now the fan favorite claimed that he and Nurmagomedov in 2023 were on a collision course for the Ultimate Fighter 31, until McGregor booked his place in the show instead of them.
“I tried to get Khabib (Nurmagomedov),” Ferguson told MMA Fighting. “I told my wife, we are going to take these fights, and what we are going to do is what moves there, so that way Khabib takes the bait.
“He will want to take the bait. That was then Conor McNuggets (McGregor) and (Michael) Chandler eventually coached against each other.
“Because I placed that sensor for me and Khabib to coach at the ultimate hunter. We had signed similarities with the UFC, we had signed with Ali (Abdelaziz) and everyone else, and that was the time that he did not go his cousin and gave his cousin.
“So he had a lot of extras – that was going on. Unlike that, the interest has never been there.”
Tony Ferguson claims that Conor McGregor was 'scared' to fight him
Similarly, Ferguson had long been connected to a confrontation with former Double weight McGregor Champion, especially behind the interim title fight in 2017.
Ferguson failed to set foot in the Octagon against the Dubliner, claimed that he had a serious Intel in the veteran's training camp, so much so that he and his “team” were afraid to fight him in the UFC.
“I got paperwork on paperwork about how these boys were doing, what they did and at that moment why they did it,” Ferguson told Dublin Live. “And it scared the F – of them. They didn't want anything to do with me.”
