The move from Ebereechi to Arsenal can influence the future of Marc Guehi in Crystal Palace, suggestion is being made, with Liverpool and Man City who want to sign the captain of Eagles
Ebereechi Eze, who adds Arsenal, could be an important barrier for the proposed movement of Liverpool for Marc Guehi, it has been said. England Forward Eze completed the switch from Crystal Palace to the Gunners on Saturday in a deal that could be worth no less than £ 67.5 million.
Palace Captain Guehi is another player who may be on his way to the starting door after a long-term interest from reigning Premier League champions Liverpool. The center-back is in the last year of his contract in Selhurst Park and refuses to donate a new deal.
It means that the 25-year-old can be broken up for a bargain of £ 35 million for the transfer deadline of next Monday. Manchester City is also said to be considering signing Guehi as Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake will leave this week.
Former goalkeeper Ben Foster van Manchester United has now created the possibility that the England international could be tempted to stay in Palace and use Eze's departure in his favor to demand a large wage increase. Despite the attention of two Premier League giants, the ex-Watford and Wrexham Shot Stopper believes that there is still a very real chance that Guehi will stay with the Eagles longer.
On the Fozcast -Podcast Foster said: “I think the Eze -deal may have played a bit in the hands of Guehi. He has huge ambitions to go and sign for a big boy. If Liverpool comes to beat, you want to go to Liverpool.
“But then you may be worried about the deal that is done and how much it can cost, and whether Liverpool is willing to stump.
“It puts enormous power in Marc Guehi's hands to say to Palace:” I tell you something, give me £ 150,000 a week for a deal of four years and I will sign and say that I am the happiest Crystal Palace player in the world. ” That is what it does, and I have seen it enough before.
As it looks now, the future of Guehi still has to be decided, whereby Palace is said to be not prepared to sell the defender before the second stage of their Play-Off against Fredrikstad on Thursday. But club chairman Steve Parish has previously indicated that they will let him leave for the right price this summer, instead of losing him for nothing next year.
It is claimed that Palace views a movement for Toulouse defender Jaydee Canvot as a potential replacement for Guehi. The 19-year-old is expected to cost the Eagles € 20 million (£ 18 million), with Aston Villa being interested.
The arrival of Canvot may cause a Domino effect by having Guehi leave. Palace would like to realize a prize of £ 45 million for him, but Liverpool is reluctant to give in to their appreciation of £ 35 million for the player.
The interest of the city could cause a scenario that is not too different from Eze's move to Arsenal after the Gunners Rivals Tottenham had defeated his signature. Guehi has become a hot property after a number of impressive displays in the defense for Palace in the past two seasons.
He also played a key role in helping the Eagles to win their very first FA Cup trophy in May. Guehi could now be about to switch to one of the two clubs in the Champions League if his departure is punished.
